Come relax at beautiful Lake Whitney!

Walkable

There is plenty you can do on a short walk from Blue Fox Cottage and Fox Kit Cabin. Our neighborhood is peaceful with lots of lake views! Please respect private property. Once you cross over the pipe fence you are on US Army Corp property which is public. Please do not litter.

To swim: Exit the back of the property and walk down Harbor Drive (1746). You can follow the road all the way to the pipe fence, just walk around the trailers and look for the flamingo.  He points the way.  Don’t worry there are no alligators! Once over the fence follow the lake line to your right to reach Three Fingers Point (yellow). Depending on the lake level there is usually a short shimmy down to the water. There are several places to get up/down. We are on the deep end of the lake. There is plenty of shallow swimming at the point but the lake does drop off here.

To hike: All the Corp land is public and you can hike all along the lake. We recommend the peninsula. From Three Fingers Point head to your right (looking at the lake). You’ll find a ATV road on your left once you pass the last dock. Follow the trail and look for another pipe fence. When you find it you’re on the peninsula. This loop is about 1.5mi round trip from the cottage and provides a spectacular view of the lake year round.

To fish: Three Fingers Cove is an excellent bank fishing spot. The lake drops off on each side and striped bass are common, especially at dawn and dusk. There is also great large mouth bass, catfish, and perch fishing from the shore. Carp and needle nose gar are also abundant in the cove.

The closest way to drive to three fingers point is from Three Fingers Drive off Shore Acres (leave the cottage, turn left on Shore Acres, make the second left). This appears to be a horseshoe loop on the map above but you can drive to the point.

We’re happy to take you on a quick neighborhood tour if we’re available!

There are lots of local fishing guides. We hear these guys are great:

In the neighborhood

All of these can be accessed without getting on Hwy 3118 or Hwy 22:

  1. “Beachland Beach” There is an ATV trail that will take you all around the lakeline. The best place to access for the “beach” is through the Tower Pizza parking lot. Follow the trail to your left and then head towards the lake. The “beach” is rocky but has a very gradual incline and is a great place to meet locals.
  2. Whitney Ridge Marina. There are boat ramps and slips available for a fee. Boat rentals are available as well. Please do not enter the marina without checking in with the front desk first.
  3. Mr. K’s Quick Stop. This is our neighborhood C-store. You can probably find whatever you need here. If Taran is the clerk she cooks up excellent burgers!
  4. Whitney Ridge Resort
  5. Tower Pizza. Laguna Parks newest restaurant with pizza, wings, and a full bar. Tower pizza is located next to the Beachland lodge. They also rent boats.

Wildlife: There is a lot of cool wildlife here at the lake. Squirrels, raccoons, opossums, armadillo but also white tail deer and of course foxes! Grey fox are actually quite common especially in the fall. They have a very distinct call:

Oh…and in the summer tarantulas are common! They rarely bite and you’re most likely to see them on the roads on summer evenings.

Don’t worry! They are harmless and kinda cool.

You will also no doubt see the neighborhood chicken flock! They keep the entire block bug and snake free.
